CONTRIBUTION REQUEST FOR COMPLETING THE SCC FEASIBILITY STUDY
Dear SCC Members and Friends,
We are writing you today with very good news and also a request for financial assistance.
First, some background
The SCC has made significant progress in the past few months. We hired Ikon.5 Architects to design and present on October 29th a new Concept Design for the site next to the outdoor pools. The intent of the Concept Design was to illustrate how the new community center could enhance the outdoor pool site. This was done by lowering the indoor pool building into the ground and using the roof as a continuation of the outdoor pool landscape. (Links to the presentation are below.)
SCC Concept Design
This illustration shows a terraced “green roof” over the proposed underground, indoor pool. The existing diving pool is shown on the right, the stable is in the middle background and the portion of the new SCC building is shown on the far left. This design was created by Ikon.5 Architects at the request of the SCC to show how a new pool can be built at the outdoor pool site in a way that will enhance the existing pool complex.
Good News
The Concept Design has been received very well by both the public and the Village Trustees. This positive response has enabled us to discuss with the Village Board of Trustees the continuation of this study. Ikon.5 Architects has prepared a proposal for a Feasibility Study and this proposal has also been favorably reviewed by the Trustees.
Statement by Mayor Stevens
Mayor Stevens stated at the December 8th Village Board meeting: “After some discussion with the SCC, representatives from the Village Board and the architect from Ikon.5, it is obvious that we need to discuss the feasibility of the conceptual project and determine the cost of any such project.........Having seen the presentation and toured the College of New Rochelle facility, [also by Ikon.5 Architects] I am excited by the prospect of a facility of this type for our community. I applaud the SCC’s concept for the facility and look forward to exploring a way to achieve the goal of providing the Village with an indoor pool and community center.”
More Good News – A Partnership to Complete the Feasibility Study
As referenced in the Mayor’s statement, The SCC has met with the Trustees to create a partnership for moving forward. We are very pleased to report that the Village has accepted the need for a more detailed study of the project site. One result of the Village Board Committee of the Whole meeting on December 9th was a consensus among Village Board members to fund a significant portion of the feasibility study work.
Contribution Request
We need to raise $45,000. The SCC needs these additional funds in order to pay for our part of the Feasibility Study and to prepare a more refined version of the Concept Design. It is important that we can show the Board of Trustees - before the end of the year - that we are able to fund our portion of the Feasibility Study.
We have two ideas for how you can help us to raise this money: 1) You can convert your current membership deposit into a tax-deductible contribution or; 2) You can make a tax-deductible cash contribution. And, of course, you could do both!
To Convert your Deposit to a Contribution:
All you need to do is to send an email to info@scarsdalecommunitycenter.org and say –
“Please convert my membership deposit to a tax-deductible contribution. I understand that I will need to make a new deposit for membership dues at a later time.”
To Make a New Cash Contribution:
You can make this new, tax-deductible contribution on of two ways:
1. Send a check payable to
Scarsdale
Community Center (SCC,
P.O. Box 612,
Scarsdale
10583)
2. Or click here to make the contribution using PayPal (which accepts both credit card payments and PayPal account payments)
Once we receive a contribution we will follow up with formal paperwork confirming your contribution which you can use for tax deduction purposes to the fullest extent allowed by law.
Our Thanks
As always, we are very thankful for our loyal and patient members. It has been a long process. We are now confident that an approach has been created that will lead to success.
Thank you for your past and continued support.
Sincerely,
Ed Morgan and Robert November, Co-Presidents
